It shouldn't be an issue. If it is an issue then the bigger person should take the first step.

More proper for child to call parent. But if child not making the move, parent can call.
It's about love. But honor and respect would indicate that children who are away would call and say hello, merry christmas, happy new year, happy birthday.
Don't get a headache over it. If you want to call and leave a kind message on the machine or just say so, then call to do so.

It doesnt really matter, as long as someone does. Its stupid to waste time being stubborn, so just call your parents ( or kids!) if they havent yet. The point is to wish them a Merry Christmas anyway, not to see who says it first.

As long as the two parties connect there's no hard and fast rule. (One thing to consider though is economics. One individual may be in better stead to place the call. Relatives are now scattered to all corners of the globe so it may be a costly issue for some.) Personally, I like to call my folks early-it's a nice way to kick off the day.

Kids should call the parents. Those on the lower level of a hierarchy should wish those at the top first.

It's easy to say anybody, but seriously so that feelings aren't strained/hurt the youngest (who are probably on mummys and daddys phone plan) call the elders. Yes, that means you call your parents, older siblings, and grandparents, etc.. if they are older? ;)

Hey some kids are too self-centered to call unless they need some help or the stubborn old man who won't budge.

Younger calls older. Hell, we brought you into this world so you could enjoy life, do us this one favor. We won't forget it.

oh if it were only like the gift of the Magi and people keep getting busy signals because they're trying to call each other. Seriously, no guideline.

There are no guidelines. Just pickup the phone!

Kids should probably call first, but really, why count! Life's too short. Call each other!
