If you are referring to what President Bush did, I agree with you and Isaiah.

What most people forget is that Christians are human just like everyone else.Personally I think health care for children is a major issue to be considered and I was very upset with the politicians that voted this down.If it was at all possible i feel like every child in the nation should have health coverage until they are at least out of high school no matter what their income.Health care in the united states has to come to a point where no one can afford to have some.If you work at a company that doesnt offer insurance you are out of luck..or if you have any health issue at all even acne you can be denied coverage. This is a major issue with me but some people feel different and thats America for you.Now is the time that I feel like christians should search their hearts and their beliefs and serious turn our nation over to God,with the presidential election coming up we should all be aware of all the issues that concern us and take a look at the whole picture. We must not stay at home we must vote .If we feel like nobody is listening to us we will know that God is. God Bless you and have a great day

I don't know.
What I do know is that really conservative Christians are among the few people who are giving President Bush decent approval ratings right now, and he just vetoed the SCHIP Bill which would have provided for more insurance for uninsured and underinsured children in the US.
I'd love to hear someone explain their thinking to me on that. I know they'd bring up the super scary prospect of socialized commie medical care, but the fact is that it's a needed program. The US is one of the wealthiest nations in the world, and we shouldn't have one person here, and that means both adults and children, who doesn't have access to good healthcare. The fact that so many go without is shameful, in my opinion.
I think you can tell a lot about a country and its leadership by how they treat and take care of the needs of their neediest and most vulnerable citizens. And I think that the message my country is sending is ugly and unfeeling and cruel.

Nice try, but the bills approaching the President are not completely about health care for children. That is really just political spin.
What this is REALLY about is SOCIALIZED MEDICINE. The government raises our taxes, AGAIN, KAWHAM, and MISUSES that money to provide piss-poor medical "care" to "the poor". Socialized medicine does NOT work. Having the government take over the medical industry does NOT make it better.
Since when does having the government take over ANY industry make it better?
Since when can our government properly handle any budget? Why should we give them more money? Are they any closer to balancing the deficit we have now?
Wrapping socialized medicine in a religious wrapper does not make it a responsible use of taxpayer money. Taxing people so the only medical care they can afford is the cheap crap the government deals out is not compassion, either! Try that thought with the scriptures you posted.

How could any human not be expected to take care of their own children rather than force others to do it for them? I enjoy giving to charity but I would resent being forced to give. I would happily take on the responsibility of feeding, clothing and paying for the health care of a child whose parents chose not to---but it's called adoption, not endless welfare. There are many, many Christian charities that support the children of deadbeat parents. They choose to do this out of love for others. Why force everyone to subsidize the irresponsible? Considering the mess that the government has made out of every social program that it's tried, I see no reason to think that it will be successful in subsidizing the health care of children of delinquent parents.
My homeowners insurance is for major unexpected damages to my home. Preventative maintenance and minor damage is my responsibility and comes out of my savings.
My car insurance is for major unexpected damages to my car. Preventative maintenance and minor damage is my responsibility and comes out of my savings.
My health insurance is for major unexpected damages to my health. Preventative maintenance and minor illnesses are my responsibility and come out of my savings.
If I choose to be irresponsible with my money and not put back savings to draw on to cover my responsibilities, that's my choice. But I do not feel it would be fair to force responsible, free citizens to pay these expenses for me. They should be free to choose to give to charity or not. If a child's needs are being neglected by their parents, then they should be given the opportunity to grow up in a home with responsible parents that would care for them properly.
A few days ago, I had to wait in the waiting room of a free clinic in the hospital. It was amazing how many folks in there were talking on their cell phones. Yeah--they chose to afford a cell phone but not health care. I don't have a cell phone but I can afford health care. To me, health care is more important than having the latest electronic devices. It is also more important than driving a newer car, wearing the latest fashions, or living in the ritziest neighborhood. Obviously, my priorities are different.

Christ also call us to be self reliant and not expect the government to care for us.
We are to care for our own. You can't quote a passage of the Bible and expect to understand the will of God.
{edit} Insurance is NOT ONLY for preventive care.... when did your care insurance prevent an accident?
FYI "preventative" is not a word.

The Bible does teach that we should willingly share what we have. But, where does it give permission to politicians to TAKE money from the people who earn it and give it to someone who chose not to earn it in order to buy votes? I must have missed that chapter and verse.

I am not a communist. I feel that people should be able to get what they choose to pay for. It is too bad the FDA and the AMA inflate prices so much, but they are not the only game in town.
