I was brought up Luthern and I found the ideas and ways of thinking taught to me by the church were not helpful. I do think the church needs to change as the needs of the people change. But this is resisted because things taught in church and written in the Bible are supposed to be absolute, unquestionable truths. If it's the right way to believe and live it shouldn't change right? Well, maybe right is a changing and dynamic thing. What's right today may not be right tommorrow.
So I think if the church can change with the people it can last. If it sticks to dogma it will fade away. This is exactly the kind of thing that Jesus was resisting. He was always tearing the pharases a new one because they were so into their rules. God will still exist of course but the church may go away.

It may seem like atheists are growing a lot but not really. They just tend to collect on the internet. And no, religion will never die out as long as people are on earth.

I dont believe so, in a thousands of years people might have different gods, but there will be religion. I am sure the cavemen had a primitive belief. Yes there will be more of us, non believers, but there will still be gods for people to worship and churches for people to waste their sunday mornings

They won't forget about the creator, they will become smart enough to understand that a creator is just not plausible enough. They will understand the world enough that believing one person made it makes no sense.

I think it will but not in our time. Its gonna take some hardcore science to prove some things before people will drop the bibles.
