You are blessed to be born in India , you have the most sacred holly places in the world, the mahabarata, the Ramayana., and so many sastras that mention Sanatana-Dharma.The English world religion is a little different fromSanata-Dharma.
Only the Lord can manufacture a system of religion:the .Vedas are also accepted as originally spoken by the Lord Himself to Brahma, from with in his heart, therefore, the principals of Dharma, or religion, are the direct orders of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, The time of course is inmemorial.

The oldest known religion that is currently in existence today is widely considered to be Hinduism. They have scriptures thousands of years old and the origin of this faith itself kinda vanishes into the background of time with no clearly defined starting point.

Sanatan Dharma, or 'Hinduism'. Krishna first appeared on this Earth in his most recognised form thousands of years before God came to be known as YHWH by the Israelites, and at least 3000 before the 'birth' of Jesus Christ; the word 'Christ' itself is merely a derivative of 'Krishna';

Krsna - Krsta - Chrsta - Christ.

And paperback_writer, true Hinduism is completely monotheistic. It's only in recent years that people have started worshipping many devas as gods; truthfully, Krishna is all, and no different to who you call Jehovah.

Religion has always existed in one form or another. The oldest religious concepts we can trace might be some of the aboriginal Australian beliefs (only some concepts) are similar to drawings from 40,000 years ago. That is just what we know. Man however has always needed to believe in something more.

It's hard to know for sure, but I would wager that some of the pagan religions are the oldest, but they have essentially been blotted from history by Christians.
