Can I use just regular pancake mix, or do I HAVE to use their recipes?
Any recipes that you can recommend? Simple and quick ones.

My mother has one and it makes great waffles! She just uses Bisquick, but she uses club soda as the liquid and it makes them fluffier.

A true Belgium waffle is kind of light and crispy when it is done. To get this type of waffle, you would need to use the mix others mentioned, or make a recipe for the Belgium waffle. I've used the mix and really didn't care for it.

There is a few recipes that are good. I'll post one below. Here's one that gives you that light waffle. Beating the egg whites until fluffy and folding them into the batter make this happen. Give it a try!

I inherited my Uncle David's Belgium waffle maker and I use the Krusteze also. He used to have a wonderful chocolate Belgium waffle recipe when served warm with vanilla ice cream was the best. I'll look around and see if one of my relatives has the recipe somewhere. Or maybe do a search, it's amazing what recipes you can find just by typing in "Chocolate Belgium Waffles" Think I'll do that now.

Spray well, pre-heat! The first waffle usually doesnt come out great so plan accordingly. Commercial product isn't bad and you can add a million different toppings to make it better. I love peanut butter and syrup with bacon and pecans.


5 large eggs, separated
1/4 cup sugar
1 cup milk
kosher salt
2 cups all-purpose flour
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted but not hot

Whisk the egg yolks and the sugar, then whisk in the milk and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Whisk in the flour quickly to make a smooth batter, then quickly whisk in the melted butter. Whisk the egg whites with a pinch of salt to soft points, and fold them into the batter.
Let the batter sit for 1 hour, then make the waffles following the waffle iron manufacturer's directions. The batter will keep very well overnight.

Waffles
1 cup milk soured with 2 tsp vinegar
1 cup flour see note below*
2 eggs
3 tbsp melted butter
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
Mix all ingredients in a blender
Batter should be thick enough to coat a spoon.
*Add more flour by tbsp if needed.
