I have been widowed almost four years. I have not gone out seriously with anybody. I have gone out a few months with a 53 year old. A few times we have taken my young daughter who is six years old. It has never gotten romantic just being friends. Is it too early to even think of it? He is a gentleman and mature with a sense of humor which I admire.

No. By the way, it's 53.42 not 53' 42". And to what the other person said about 10 year olds having 40's, that's around average.

11 year difference? Doesn't matter. You're a 42 year old woman who's seen enough of life to make careful choices that will affect you and those around you. It's not like you're a little girl and he's trying to steal your candy is it? So go with the man if he makes you happy.

EDIT: The truth here is that you've got to know whether you're looking for a partner for yourself or a father figure for your daughter. If you're looking for a partner for yourself primordially, then you're on the right track. If you go into this looking for a father figure for your girl, neither you or him will be happy. It wouldn't be fair for him. You are very responsile and careful to be concerned for your daughter's well-being, make sure you are responsible and careful with your feelings as well as his'.

My condolences on your loss.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with you seeing a 53-year-old gentleman. I am 52. At your ages you are both still young enough to enjoy each other's company and yes, even sexual interludes.

of course its ok! dont let age get in the way of a relationship or how you feel. you should keep seeing him and see where it goes. but dont let the age be a problem. if two people connect..then why let a thing like that get in the way. two people connect..then they connect. so if you like him and he likes you. then go for it. keeping going out with him..and who knows what might happen! you might be surprised and even might get really serious. so best of luck

You are at an age that compliments a man that age. May and December romance this is not. You compliment him and he compliments you. Keep him.
