THe ps3 cools itself just fine in fact rarely do we ever hear the overdrive fan inside kick on. Just keep the system out of the entertainment center and don't set it on carpet...THe intercoolers are sold by a third party and will void your warranty on your ps3....We have had ours running for 24hrs a day since march when the folding@home project for Standford University started.. When we are not gaming the ps3 runs the stanford fold at home project. No problems at all with heating issues.

It depends on a few things. It would be more accurate to say that the PS3 has better graphical capability than the 360. The reality, however, is that most game developers don't bother making full use of the PS3's graphic power, because they're game is multiplatform (they have to use the same graphics for the 360 version, after all... why put so much effort into them when the 360 can't display them at full quality?). Now some of the PS3 exclusive titles DO really max out the graphics... but even with those, they're few and far between. Graphics aren't really the most important aspect of a game, and they often get treated as such. It also depends on how you hook them up. If you've got you PS3 on an HDMI cable, and your 360 on a composite cable, then yeah... the 360 isn't going to look too great. If you've got them both on HDMI, you're not going to see much difference. So yes, the PS3 does have a technologically more powerful graphics engine... but realistically, the difference is very minor. You're really only going to notice a major difference with the handful of certain titles that were developed with extremely high quality graphics in mind. The vast majority of games, you're not going to see any difference at all.

NOOO WAYYY DON"T BUY IT

Sony has prepared the PS3 MORE THAN ENOUGH to let it be on for hours at a time

There is no way you can over heat a ps3 unless you play maybe 40 hours at a time or wrap it up in a blanket and let it over heat.

Even then, when the system starts to over heat, it will automatically turn off, protecting it self.

External coolors will only mess the ps3 up even more.

Don't worry, I left my ps3 on for 18 hours one time when we went out for the day, and I didn't realize until the next morning.

I couldn't even hear the fan, that's how cool and quiet it was after 18 hour!!!

So don't worry

DO NOT BUY A COOLER FAN. They are a waste of money and can actually cause overheating by creating a vortex of hot air between the fans. As long as you give the system adequate breating space, it'll be fine. Mine's standing on end in order to increase the surface area exposed to the air, to aid cooling. Because it's so bottom-heavy when on end it's fairly sturdy. Just don't move it from laying to standing with a disc in it.

Please do not get it! It will actually create over heating to your PlayStation 3! Please do not get it by damaging or wasting your money on that piece of junk. The PS3 has a very good bulit in iner cooler which hold up so so well. just make sure you have enough space for the PS3 to have the hot air go out of and cool ait to enter.

The PS3 should have an in-built cooling system to prevent overheating

Don't get an intercooler - they make things worse, because they don't lat the internal cooling system to work as designed. My PS3 was running for more than 15 hours in a row without any problems.
Happy holidays! :-)
