Because of the political influence of the Christian Right. They think it's morally wrong for common people to want to ingest alcohol during Christmas and they have the power (money and votes) to dictate so through their favored politicians.
Of course, the excuse offered is "to reduce alcohol-related deaths during the holidays" or something like that.

They have 3 of the meanest kids , they scream . holler , run through the house and that makes your dogs bark the whole day. Then you better before they get there hide you a beer or two are a Drink or two because you need to go to the hospital because your head feels like it is on backwards. Just get a case of beer hide in the garage and a fifth of Jack Daniels. Just get loaded again and make the world go away.

You most likely live in a Blue state where you have less freedoms then in a red state.
I live in a red state and I just bought a 12 pk of Bud, a 5th of Jack and a pint of Smirnof.

The citizens voted for times of abstinence. There are few hours and less days when you can't buy alcohol. When you expect a holiday, or a reason to be celebrating ... you could plan ahead and you won't be disappointed .. stay safe and smart.

Should've just ran out with it and threw them some money to cover the alcohol. I can't see what the cops can really do, lol. I'm kidding. That's just wrong. I never heard anything like that. I went to circle K and just bought a 18pk. (bud). Try another liquor store.

Washington State runs all liquor stores (you can get beer and wine elsewhere, but the good stuff is ran by the State Liquor Board). This is a royal pain in the butt, because they get all holidays off. Imagine if you don't get your booze on July 3!

Mostly, it's the jesus freaks who want you to be sober on this most depressing of days!
BTW....I suspect that the sale of alcohol is banned on major holidays in ALL states. I know it is here in NC.

I am sure you could have stopped by yesterday and bought what you needed. It is called respect, and more fatalities happen during Christmas and New Years, and other holidays from drunken drivers.
