I'm not a vegetarian for several reasons.
1. We evolved as an omnivore. There are proteins and vitamins in meat that we cannot get from a vegetarian diet without taking supplements. The supplements, in most cases, are made from animal byproducts.
2. With the large number of people on Earth, we cannot devote enough land to crops to support a vegetarian population. Environmentally, it's impossible.
3. Economically, it makes more sense for a household to buy only what they need and don't waste. Meat is cheaper than fresh vegetables and grains. It usually arrives at the store in better condition and it's a much better value.
I am aware that an animal gave his life so I might eat and, as is proper, I give thanks to the animal. I see no sin in it, though, since animals eat other animals in nature. We should just make their lives good and kill them quickly when it is time.

I'm not a Vegetarian because my religion does not demand that I become one. I'm Christian and Christians believe that God created animals to help satisfy our needs for food and nourishment and that we are definitely welcome to consume the food, as long as we share and make sure there is enough for everyone else. I also know that my South Indian culture's culinary arts has a lot of meals based on meat, and without the prospect of meat, a lot of these meals would not be available to its people. Many of the Vegetarians out there are hindus or followers of Jade and they worship gods who are animals, and so, they are not allowed to eat them. It's all about culture in this instance.

I am not a vegetarian because I believe that humans are meant to be omnivores (the diets of our ancestors mostly consisted of meat, vegetables, berries, and nuts). I also believe that humans who do not consume meat may take on serious nutrient deficiencies. It is also very difficult to obtain protein through vegetarian sources. (Processed soy-based products, like tofu and veggie burgers, are very popular amongst vegetarians, but they are not healthy since they are unfermented. People have not been consuming these foods up until recently, while other more natural soy-based products, such as tempeh and miso, have been consumed by the Japanese for hundreds of years. So I really don't believe that tofu and other processed soy-based products are meant to be consumed by humans.
Also, my great grandfather was very healthy and lived to be 100. My mother tells me that he ate a lot of natural organic, grass-fed meat, and consumed soups made of meat or fish-based broths (even soup made from fish heads or chicken feet). He also consumed a lot of saturated fat, but did not suffer from any cardiovascular illness. This is why I believe that meat and its saturated fats are not dangerous to the heart. Meat, in my opinion, is essential for optimum health.

I'm a strict vegetarian (no dairy either) for health reasons and not ethical ones. I believe that a "healthy" plant food diet is the way to go for optimum health and wellbeing.

I'm not a veggie, because meat is very tasty, gives you nutriants. How can you live without chicken, duck and lamb?
However thinking about an innocent lamb getting slaughtered is a bit of a turn off and very sad

Yes, I am because I find eating meat gross. The thought of eating something that was once living and had to be brutally killed to satisfy my needs grosses me out. Also, I know that I'm healthier this way and overall it's the lifestyle that I prefer.
