Bush and Cheney and their private cronies such as oil and big business. Halliburton and Blackwater, which also means Bush and Cheney.

Here is a little History 101: We gain the most from the war in Iraq.
1) By having a standing Army on the ground we directly control how far Iran can go in its push to Armageddon.
2) Israel is protected and given an opening to start negotiations with the Palestinians for an end to that violence.
3) And finally, 'its the oil stupid' point that most make; but, as a nuance, it is a source of friendly oil to us, a source in case Iran decides to turn off the spigot and finally a check on Iran in the larger OPEC picture.
So, is it all about the oil? Not really, its all about Iran.

The oil executives! But, it was never supposed to be like this, because it was supposed to be a piece of cake. This war was supposed to be over in a matter of weeks and the free people of Iraq were supposed to greet the victors, us, with flowers and candy. Bush and Cheney never thought this out and the rest of the right wingers are going along with this wrong headed mess as if the overthrow of Saddam Hussein was the major objective.
The major objective was OIL!
Secondary objective was revenge for the embarrassment of the first George H. W. Bush.
Imaginary objectives thought up after a debacle was apparent was the Democratization of the Middle East
Terrorism (which was not there before the attack on Iraq)
Bringing down a terrible dictator, where other dictators were allowed to go there merry way!
ad nauseum!
Thanks

I'm not sure. Who's fighting in Irak?
Just bustin' your b*lls!!
The Iraqi people.
The war for oil types might have steam comin' out of thier ears by this point, but ask them if they would prefer a world where the secret police can come into thier homes, forcibly remove them from thier family(many times violently in front of them), and take them to a NEARBY location, most Baghdad neighborhoods had a house owned by the government as a torture chamber, and torture them to death for little to no reason at any time
...or...
A place where it may be a bit hazardous presently, but in the near future will be a land overseen by government chosen by, and working for the people.
Oh, and no fear of death squads!

To narrow minded, self centered and uninformed public, nothing.
As a free America. There is a lot to gain, both for America. Iraq and free people everywhere.. Do you remember the feeling you had when you heard the first airplane in the sky after 911? That is only a token of the feeling people living under strong dictators feel daily.
Some Americans do not remotely understand oppression, dictatorship, true poverty and going to bed afraid and hungry and are in denial that the local Iraq people had it so bad prior to our invasion. Research what Saddam's Army did to the civilians in Kuwait , to the animals in the Zoos and why he torched all the oil fields on fire. Those who said its all about oil is right, but not for America, it was to advance Saddam's agenda, Not Americas.

The western country including the USA. I also believe that the Iraq people will benefit because they are tired of living in fear and with a economy in ruins, they have the oil and they don't have no benefits from it. Look at Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Egypt, Jordan, etc. they are all friends of the West and they live better than Iraq.

It’s sad that you believe the media. 99 cents out of every dollar donated to congress goes to the Democrats. It’s obvious they will report only what benefits those they support, the Democrats. America has been brainwashed by TV and Newspapers.
What if the media wasn’t one of the largest contributors to the Democratic Party, do you think they would report the truth
"CWA, America's largest communications and media union
Broadcasting, journalism and other fields. The union’s members work for companies such as AT&T, General Electric and many of the nation’s top newspapers and broadcast stations.

I love how everyone says it about oil. Funny, because, we only get half a million barrels per day from Iraq.
Canada, Nigeria, Mexico, Venezuela and Saudia Arabia all export 2-3 times as much oil into the US than Iraq. Try actually checking you facts people.
"The top sources of US crude oil imports for October were:
Canada (1.887 million barrels per day),
Saudi Arabia (1.370 million barrels per day),
Mexico (1.322 million barrels per day),
Venezuela (1.221 million barrels per day),
and Nigeria (1.184 million barrels per day).
The rest of the top ten sources, in order, were:
Iraq (0.490 million barrels per day),
Angola (0.342 million barrels per day),
Ecuador (0.222 million barrels per day),
Algeria (0.213 million barrels per day),
and Brazil (0.172 million barrels per day)."
So yeah we get a less oil from Iraq than we do from Angola and Ecuador combined. And we all know how big Angola and Ecuador are in the Oil game right?? I mean, you hear about oil from Angola all the time in the news.... dont you?
Oh, you dont, thats right, because we dont actually import that much from Angola and Ecuador combined.
Face it, you are just following the crowd and trying to place blame for a war that you dont even know why you are against.
