I highly recommend working out for a short amount of time per session and spread the workouts over the course of several days. The reason for this is because If you train for a short amount of time per session, you can train at a high level of intensity and really focus on the task at hand. After about 45 minutes, your body's natural testosterone levels begin to decrease so you really want to focus on keeping them short and intense.
I would not recommend losing more than 1 pound per week for healthily weight loss. The reason for this has do to with the issues which quick and drastic weight loss can have on your body's metabolism and muscle mass. When you lose a lot of weight quickly, you really need to strictly monitor where this weight is coming from. Is it water weight, body fat or muscle mass? The majority of the time, it unfortunately comes from lean muscle mass and this is exactly what will cause serious issues with your metabolism. Muscle is your body's most potent and active tissue for burning calories and body fat. Its basically your body's "furnace" which you want to always keep burning hot. When someone loses a lot of weight, which usually comes from crash dieting or some other unhealthy way of dropping the weight, the body's lean muscle mass is cannibalized and you lose some of your biggest "power" tissue for keeping a lean body.
The worst thing is when the person finally decides to get off the diet and start eating again. Their calories go back up, but since their BMR (basal metabolic rate) is lowered and they have lost muscle mass, the end result is they pack on the body fat very quickly! Ever heard of the term "yo-yo" dieting. This is the reason why tons of people have issues and hard times with their weight loss plans.
My advice is to focus on creating a max 500 calorie deficit per day which equates out to an overall 3,500 calories per week (1 pound of body fat). Create this overall 500 calorie deficit through a 250 calorie drop in your diet and another 250 burned with an exercise routine. This is the healthiest way to lose body fat while keeping your muscle mass and having your body run at an optimal level. It will also provide you with a much better plan to permanently keep the weight off forever!
For your diet, focus on getting enough protein throughout the day by choosing lean items like chicken breast, egg whites, turkey breast and fish. Also, make sure to eliminate all empty calories like soda, high sugar fruit juices, candy and fast food. Try and eat several small and nutritious meals throughout the day. By cleaning up your diet, you should see a vast improvement in your physique.

I think that is definitely attainable. I did the weight watchers diet with the points a few years ago & of all the diets I've tried, seen other people trying, it's the simplest to follow & it works!! Generally you loose a few pounds the first week, but if you stick with it, you should be able to loose 1-3lbs per week so 60lbs in one year is very achievable. Definitely tracking your food is a good way to keep it in check - this will let you see where you have gone wrong any week you don't lose, or if you have a really good week you can work out why. This is a really good idea - weight watchers actually sell a like food diary book at their meetings too.
if you want to do a class at the gym you should see if your local gym does Body Pump - each class lasts an hour so it fits in with a busy life - I've been going to this class for about 6 months & love it. it gives fast results & it's totally changed the shape of my body for my wedding - website below

good for you - i hope it all goes well for you x

A healthy amount to lose is 1-2 lbs per week, through a lower intake of calories and more exercise. An intake 0f 500 cals less per day/ burning 500 cals a day will lead to a pound loss a week. The bigger you are, the quicker you will loose weight, as a general rule I think. Start exercise gradually, take it from me, you DON'T want to end up with an injury and then not being able to exercise as much as you want to! I suggest joining www.fitday.com or starting an exercise and food diary. Good luck!

Well done on the academics side. This will boost your confidence to lose the weight you want - and it can be done.
A year ago I weighed in at just on 13stone. I went on the Atkins Diet, cutting out all carbohydrates (sugar, potatoes, beer, bread, pasta) and eating meat, fruit, vegetables, fish. Eat as much as you like, so you never go hungry, and the weight just falls away. Within six months I was down to 10 stone 8.
Now I eat what I like, just adjusting the carbo intake if my weight starts to go up, combined with a little exercise.
It is so easy and lots of my associates who have tried it have had the same success. Please give it a go.
Merry Xmas.

Hi there, i would personaly suggest going on a 'rosemary conley diet' this is simerla to slimming world - you attend one meeting a week, which includes a way-in and a 30 minuet exercise class - which dosent cost you any more than the weekly fee, which is around £5. its a great diet, sensiable and one that is actually good for you (g.i. diet)
ive tryed a few different diets in my time, only to go and put the weight back on quickly. the rosemary conley one has been the only one that the weight hasent come back quickly on. i will be going back in january after my christmas binge.
a slow steady weight loss is best

Go for protein rather then sugar to keep energy levels going strong rather then crashing. Edamame in pods will be the perfect snack since it takes a while to eat and a one-cup offering offers 12 grams of protein.

You have to go to a doctor who gives you a diet based on your needs, don't do a self-made-diet because they are dangerous and they make you get fat again when you finish the diet.

The body is obviously burning up several energy, in addition to exercising forces you to melt away all of them faster
