lets see.
during the war in Nam, so many of the present administration got deferments.
The war ended in part as the wealthy middle class family's kids deferments were being phased out to ensure a steady supply of fresh troops.
That's when all hell broke loose, and everybody started protesting the war. The war ended.
later, someone brought in the present volunteer military.
When there were relative time of peace in the US, the military did a good job of recruiting.
As of now, the present system is a back door draft for the poor, social maladjusted, and petty criminal.
The military still gets good recruits now, but most would not be considered viable applicants prior to the screw up in Iraq.
On top of that, retention is way down on the truly desirable soldiers, due to the execution of war policy ,brought out by Bush-co.
So if everyone in draft age had to serve in Iraq, we would go through the same situation as before, leading to an early ending of the war.

Absolutely! Especially if there are no collage deferments allowed and since the United States has began to use our National Guard and Reserves units in combat. There'd be no place to hide our elite youth. The wealthy's kids would have to go to war. There'd be a troop withdrawal from Iraq in months.
And that's why I support the draft!
Thanks

One thing a draft would do would be to bring out the hippies to the streets to do massive protests. We lost the Vietnam conflict because of our retreat which was pushed by the same group that would again resurface if we had a draft. Don't forget, everybody in Iraq is a volunteer - kinda hard to protest that as Cindy Shehan found out, the hard way.

i've got self assurance a nationwide draft could have long gone an prolonged way in the direction of finishing the warfare. Re taxes, i'm no longer so specific. I do think of that, if human beings had standard in develop that the warfare could be long and high priced, and that hundreds of human beings could die, we could have been much less probably to get entangled to start with. human beings have been anticipating something like barren region hurricane. In fairness, I ought to upload that, concerning all the above, i will grant no info. in simple terms my droop, for what it is nicely worth.

The war in Iraq ended several weeks after it began. The conflict we are now engaged in is the war on terror. It's the enemy that has chosen Iraq as a battleground... not us. The draft would supply the Armed forces with enough personnel, but volunteers make better soldiers.
The draft is not needed and would have no positive effect on our military situation.
Warm regards,
Douglas

No, what good is a draft? We have plenty of soldiers. The way to end the Iraq war is to win it .

End in victory, or withdrawal? Methinks sending conscripts overseas will do horrors for the occupation's overall popularity.
