If your to embarrassed about talking about Sex with each other then is he truly someone you can discuss other things with in the future? Talk about risks, and protection. Sometimes, Talking is the best way of giving a sign.
If your looking for a just happen moment... Well you can get that but talk about it then when that moment comes you know your safe because everything is already planned.

How old are you? If you are under 18 I suggest you think twice about that. Do you have the maturity to use protection and deal with the emotional issues?

If he's a good boyfriend--then he'll let you let know how far he wants to go-and will listen to how far you also want to go.
Talking to him is probably the best way. But you never know because sometimes you might just "know"
