ya need to mix your ricotta with an egg to bind it and a bit of parsley for color and some grated parm for extra flavor. But the egg is the big thing you are missing.

Lasagna

INGREDIENTS
1 pound ground beef
1 egg, beaten
2 1/2 cups KRAFT Shredded Low-Moisture Part-Skim Mozzarella Cheese, divided
1 (15 ounce) container POLLY-O Natural Part Skim Ricotta Cheese
1/2 cup KRAFT 100% Grated Parmesan Cheese, divided
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
1 (26 ounce) jar spaghetti sauce
1 cup water
12 lasagna noodles, uncooked

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Brown meat in large skillet on medium-high heat. Meanwhile, mix egg, 1-1/4 cups of the mozzarella cheese, the ricotta cheese, 1/4 cup of the Parmesan cheese and the parsley until well blended; set aside.
Drain meat; return to skillet. Stir in spaghetti sauce. Add water to empty sauce jar; cover with lid and shake well. Add to meat mixture; stir until well blended. Spread 1 cup of the sauce onto bottom of 13x9-inch baking dish; top with layers of 3 lasagna noodles, one-third of the ricotta cheese mixture and 1 cup of the sauce. Repeat layers twice. Top with remaining 3 noodles and the remaining meat sauce. Sprinkle with remaining 1-1/4 cups mozzarella cheese and remaining 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese. Cover with greased foil.
Bake 45 minutes. Remove foil; bake an additional 15 minutes or until heated through. Let stand 15 minutes before cutting to serve.

I had worked in an Italian restaurant before, and had helped prepare the lasagna. The ricotta cheese is placed in a mixing bowl, meat sauce is added, and both are mixed together, before applying it to each layer of the lasagna. After a coating of olive oil on the pan, the lasagna pasta are placed one layer HORIZONTALLY, then a layer of ricotta cheese/meat sauce mixture, a layer of mozzarella, then the next layer of pasta are arranged VERTICALLY, then repeat the layers of ricotta/meat sauce, & mozzarella, then a layer of pasta HORIZONTALLY, and so on. By changing the pasta from horizontal, to vertical, then back to horizontal again, the cut portion doesn't fall apart easily as you dish out a serving out of the pan.

Funny, I just finished making lasagna! Noodles, Sauce, Beef, ricotta, eggs, mozzerella, parm, garlic. Mix ricotta, eggs, parm, garlic in large bowl. Layers... from the bottom up, sauce, noodles, ricotta mixture, mozzarella, sauce, noodles, ricotta, mozz, sauce, noodles, mozz, sauce. Yummy! Goodluck

Sounds about right, make sure your noodles are cooked b/f you start construction.
My mama always put noodles at the bottom of the pan (on a thin layer of olive oil so it wouldn't stick), but however it works for you is the way to do it.
Bon Appetite & Happy Christmas!

That's about right. I leave out the meat and add more veggies. I layer it in this order, noodle, ricotta, sauce, motz cheese. Repeat.
