Greek mythologicy has a lot on them. They were the hybrid off spring from the half angel half human mothers.
It tells in which Gods and Goddesses mated with humans to create a hybrid off spring heros in that they were super strong.
Fearful demigods having god-man charistics.
When the angels left heaven to live with women recorded in Genesis 6:1 and jude 6 it was called fornication and preversions. A real man didn't have a chance against these creatures. So the flood removed them and God no longer allowed these angels to clothe themselves in human bodies.

They were the offspring of the Fallen Angels in the days of Noah. They were giants who caused wickedness amongst mankind. Then they died in the Deluge.

Later, Joshua's soldiers and priests encountered tall, long-necked people in the Promised Land, who lived in huge structures. They were likened to such creatures. Goliath was a descendant through the Philistine bloodline. They are all called 'giants', but there were many different 'races' of them. They can be found in all sorts of mythology, with similar names. This is probably because God told Abraham that his descendants would inherit the Promised Land, (Israel). Abraham was the son of an idol maker, so it is likely he would be familiar with such gods, whom they were likened.

Stregnths: Physical strength, great wisdom and intelligent, fearlessness, great defenses and weapons.

Weaknesses: They were the offspring of demons! God could destroy them, through His power, (the Deluge, sent by God, Joshua's men, given God's power, and King David, with the will of God).

I don't know of any extr-canonical text. I am thinking that it had to do with genetic manipulation, to make things big. (maybe including dinosaurs) I understand that they died in the flood.
