Yep. Most people have sucked the Pagan rituals right out of the holiday.

But the original celebrations of Christmas were for the presents. The holiday was hijacked by the Christians who were trying to convert the pagans. They didn't believe that the pagans would convert to Christianity if they had to give up their holiday.

Also, the current rites of Christmas as we know it didn't start until the mid 1800's. 'A Christmas Carol' by Dickens and American commercialism had more to do with how we now celebrate Christmans that the bible or any religious group.

The giving of presents symbolizes the gifts given to the baby Jesus, in that way Christmas presents are very religious.

Christmas is about GIVING to others, whether it's presents, food for the homeless, charity events, etc. Christmas reinforces compassion and love towards others, especially the needy. God bless.

A lot. Christmas traditions were originally those of the Pagans, but Christianity adopted them in an effort to convert Pagans over.
