Can a Portuguese Water Dog be left outside in the snow, in sub-32 degree Fahrenheit weather? If so, for how long? I know they were bred to spend time in the ocean, but I am wondering what temperatures feel good to them.

My PWD loves the cold but prefers to be inside with the humans. We've played hard for 30-40 minutes in 20 degree weather with snow with no problems. Normally, he goes outside for five minutes and is ready to come back in. I wouldn't leave him out unattended much longer. As you probably know, a bored Portie is going to get in to trouble.

are you asking negative 32? i wouldn't want to be out in that myself do you have a Portuguese water dog? beautiful breed i must say intelligent and devoted they do have a high activity level how long are you talking about keeping them outside in that kind of weather? i know someone with one but they don't live in that kind of climate also i know someone with a bichon a descendant of the P.W.D. they live in a little colder climate her dog loves the cold because his coat is so dense but i would supervise outside in that kind of weather
