That's YOUR job.

You wash them with flea shampoo and in the future, you can prevent fleas by treating them with Frontline Plus, or Advantage, or one of the other good flea treatments. The stuff sold at Walmart are useless.

You poor thing. I empathise with you after reading the remarks, although funny from where I am sitting, not so funny when you are on the receiving end.

It is true though, that you need to hoover the house thoroughly and continue to hoover the house, ensuring you get rid of all the eggs. You no longer need a prescription for front-line and can buy this on line. Do not purchase flea repellents from supermarkets as they are highly toxic and do not last very long.

Basically you need one course which is for three months and this may cost £7.30 for the three pipettes, which you squirt at the back of the neck of your cat once a month up to 6 weeks. Depending on how bad the infestation is and the strength of the immune system of your cat.

Question is, why do some cats attract a lot of fleas and others remain entirely flea-less? Similar to why some people catch colds easily and others never have a headache. All depends on the health of your cat. The love with which it is surrounded, the confidence it has that reproduce the endorphins to provide the joyful serotonin's required to strengthen the immune system and fight bacteria. Natural garlic crushed in your cat's diet will provide natural anti flea repellent and before you know it, problems solved. Diet is the key to a healthy cat, a sense of security and stability as well as mental inspirational activities (from within the cat culture, of course).

It is a very important question you asked and you will not find the right solution, with the many choices on offer. There is no need to spend huge amounts of money, in fact you can in fact handle the whole problem with holistic resolve, but that is hard work. So, the £7.30 is a good investment and after you have the situation under control you can give garlic tablets instead of natural cloves if you find that easier.

Merry Christmas.

A $10 dose of Advantage from the vets will take care of fleas for up to 6 weeks. If it's only a few fleas, combing the cat with a fine toothed comb (the fleas get caught in the tines) and killing the fleas by squashing between fingernails works fine. We get the occasional one here, and I have a flea comb to check all the cats once a month, anything more than 4 fleas found per cat needs Advantage, but less than that & I just take care of it myself. Brush her as a check every day to keep up on the problem.

Ok so your cat has fleas. You can go buy frontline, advantage, whatever. You can comb them out of him/her, you can do all of the quick fixes. But the fleas will come back. Why?

Because you have to treat the environment. Either your house ALREADY had fleas when you got there, your yard has fleas, you had another animal over, or you or your cat somehow brought them in. The fact is if you do not kill the fleas in the HOUSE and YARD, as soon as the meds wear off, the fleas will come right back!! A flea bath can wear off in a dar or so!!

So please invest more into cleaning the environment, and get your cat on frontline (esp if it goes outside) so the fleas won't have access again!!

You have to take them to the vet to get a professional flea treatment that will work. Then you need to call an exterminator that deals with fleas & have them spray your entire house. Also, vacuum the house often, & put a flea collar in the vacuum - it'll vacuum up & kill fleas & their eggs that are on the carpet. It'll probably cost around $50 for the vet & meds, & $100 for the exterminator.

Pet shops have a huge range of flea products such as shampoos, flea combs, sprays, tablets and creams. One of our cats is allergic to advantage he foams at the mouth so we have to use a flea comb and he has a flea collar where our kitten we use advantage but sneezes straight after it. hope this helps you may find you need to try a few things as most cats dont like being washed so makes shampooing very difficult. :)

dont take your cat anywhere.. its too stressfull for them...
simply buy a flea comb and comb through the cats hair - removing any fleas or flea eggs and sticking them to tape for disposal..

remember cats can get worms from fleas.. so make sure you ask the vet to check for worms next vet appointment
keep the cat indoors so you dont get more fleas

wash all cat bedding and toys...
vaccumm the house

Give a good flea shampoo bath. Ask the vet about what shampoo they rec commend. Flea comb, and positively Advantage. I swear by that stuff.

Well,If you'd like you can take him to the vet but if you dont want to waste money than I suggest you buy a treatment that works best for fleas. Such as Frontline Plus. Give your cat's a bath and kill as many as you can.

take him to the vet and get advantage put on him. it will kill the fleas. Any fleas in the house that jump on him will also be killed.
I don't know how much it is because when I got it my kitten was at his first visit and it was free.
