When I was younger, I had very good tolerance of alcohol, but now everyone my age (including myself) seem to get really affected by alcohol both during and after having a few. I've pretty much quit, but I always wondered "what happened?" that I can't enjoy a margarita anymore without getting really stupid, and feeling like crap the next day.

I'm 50, and I handle alcohol just fine. Because I no longer wish to be drunk, I limit myself to 2 or 3 drinks.

When you get a little older, you have to make a better selection of what you drink.
I am 66 and drink 5 or 6 beers a day without any problems. Occasionally I have wine with a good dinner (good wine). I realized that hard liquor was not for me anymore.

When I was 18 I could buy beer legally (back in the mid 70s before the democrats took over). Of course it was only 3.2% alcohol content. You still had to be 21 to buy liquor store beer.

The funny part is when I turned 21 it wasn't such a big deal. I'm lucky if I have one drink every six months.

you're like me.my high tolerance in youth allowed me to drink excessively without ill effects.it was considered macho that i could drink others under the table. but tolerance decreases with continued use. part of the problem is societal.what was once called being the life of the party is now considered irresponsible.now i only drink beer,as liquor will lead to black-outs.it is healthier, and will prolong my life

Wear and tear on the body. My real mom died at 51 due to liver problems. This is a good indication that you need to not drink.
