When she is in labor, it should stay down for a while. It will probably drop below your lowest. If you do it the same every time, that will help, but you must be doing it rectally. I know it's gross, but to get an accurate temp, that is what you have to do.

Typical gestation for dogs is 63 days, but that is not a hard and fast rule (the same way human gestation isn't always 9 months to the very day). Dogs either get clingy (like you're experiencing) or hide when they are close to giving birth. Have you been taking her temperature once (or twice, ideally) a day? If so, take it again - if you see a drop of ~2*, she will probably give birth within the next 12-18 hours. As someone else already mentioned, she will be restless and display nesting behaviors, as well. Keep an eye on her. I hope you have educated yourself about what is about to happen. Do you have a welping box prepared?

A consistent drop in temp means she's going to whelp soon. What kind of dog is it? Are you planning on a natural whelp? If you don't have experience, you should plan on being at an emergency vet. Do you have any idea how many pups she's going to have? You need to know how many should be coming out.
Next time, make sure you're monitoring her during her pregnancy. Or just get her spayed, much easier.
Other signs she's going to whelp: nesting, not eating.

It sounds like she is getting ready soon.
Not to be disrespectful but you should call Your vet and have him/her on standbye if there are any complications. If you don't know about the temp are you ready for the welping htis is best to have a vet on standby.
After the water breaks the first pup should be born within an hour and never let it go any more than a hour between pups.

Temperature is never constant. While people should be 98.6, is can vary a point here and there and there is no problem.
I would think she would begin whelping within the next 24 hours, if you are properly taking her temperature.

think maybe you should leave the thermometer alone she'll be just fine if you quit probing her with that thing! dogs have been giving birth long before the invention of the thermometer and weird human fetishes

you should have known this information before you had her bred.
Sounds like she will be going into labor soon. Call the vet to be sure.
