My husband is a pilot and for a present I want to buy him an easy to use relatively inexpensive digital camera. Please give me advice on what is the best buy for the money. The camera must be easy to use as husband in not very gadget savvy.

Looking for brand and model numbers.

Also must be small enough for him to take on trips with him.

You go through extensive training to be a pilot which never ends. There's not much training for someone who just wants to push a button and have the picture come out...

A Canon Powershot A series would be nice. I must say, I kinda hate to hear about a pilot who isn't "gadget savvy". The entire airplane cockpit looks like gadgets to me :-)

I went into Best Buy and asked them to recommend the best cameras for the price I wanted to spend. They helped me choose a nice one for about $140. Only thing is, I also had to buy a memory card (it was on sale for $20 for 1G) and I decided to buy a two-year comprehensive warranty, which was $30. Altogether I spent about $200, which was a bit more than I wanted to. But the last camera I got came from Wal Mart, and when it broke, they wouldn't let me exchange it. This way I know my camera is covered for two years. They also have less expensive cameras to choose from so then you can add extras.

For a pilot cameras should be a piece of cake.
You might consider Canon PowerShot A560. Last I saw Circuit City had it for about $129- 4X optical zoom, 7 megapixels.
PS- Don't forget cost of memory card and REchargeable AA batteries and charger.
