Personally, I believe that it's because the unfortunate truth is that many people that claim to believe in the Bible and to be educated in it who really aren't. They either have not put in the work to learn about the Bible and to know about the flaws let alone understand them or they have not had the opportunity to deeply learn about it. Sending you back to the Bible eases the burden on them. I'm not advocating intellectual snobbery when it comes to religious texts such as the Bible. I'm advocating that people really learn that it's okay to say 'I don't know, let me ask ____ about that and get back to you.' I agree with Peter M that there are many times that we try to treat the material in the Bible like a scientific textbook and things appear to make no sense (like a rabbit chewing cud). It's a historical work of many literary forms. Within some of the forms, things are not required to be literal (like the poetry in the book of Psalms). Part of the work is in knowing what form of literature the particular section that you are reading falls into. Is that to say that there are no flaws outside of those within forms that allow them? No. Next question - are the flaws that you have found significant enough to invalidate the consistent messages that run throughout the entire text?

Bible never tells us 1 day of creation in Genesis 1 is 24 hours as we know it now. In fact 1 day that we know it now 24 hours are exist only long after animals appears on the planet. At the early days of earth formation 1 day is only 14 hours. Even before God create day and night the Genesis already account it's as 1 day of creation. So 1 day of creation must refers to the day of God.

2 Peter 3:8 But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.

Psalm 90:4 For a thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night.

The bible also never mention 1 day of God is equals to 1000 years of human. From 2 Peter we know that 1 day of the Lord 'is like' 1000 years, it's not 1 day of the Lord 'is' 1000 years. And from Psalms we know that 1000 years 'are like' 1 day of the Lord 'or like' 1 hour of the Lord. The word 'is' can be translated to 'equals to' but the word 'is like' can be translated 'could be or could also be'. In other word 1 day could be 1000 years or could also be 1000000 years. Same analogy with if we say "the child is like the father" doesn't mean that "the child is exactly like the father", it just carries the meaning that "the child is similar to the father". So armed with this understanding, 1 day of creation is unlimited by human understanding, it could be thousands, millions or even billion years.

Opponents of Christianity will cite what they consider a Bible contradiction or difficulty by comparing one verse to another (or more) that seems to disagree with the first. In doing this, several verses are often referenced as being contradictory or problematic. Therefore, to make this section of CARM easy to use, it is arranged by verse for easy lookup. Since many of the same "difficulties" deal with one verse in opposition to another or even several others, I have listed all the verses addressed in the same answer. This makes the initial list look larger than it really is. For example, how many animals did Noah bring into the ark? Genesis 6:19-20 says two while Gen. 7:2-3 mentions seven. Therefore, both verses are listed and both links point to the same answer.

With my science and analysis background... none I see that if you look at the context or another translation aren't real flaws... not one! IF one chooses to close their eyes and pretend something is wrong doesn't make it wrong... only the person ignoring truth look foolish!
