So a few days ago my cousin came to me and asked if he could borrow my car for the night, against my better judgment I said ok after making it clear there were to be no drugs or alcohol in the car. I went out the next morning to find that the car reeked of whiskey, I confronted him and he admitted a bottle had broken in the car. Several days later the car still reeks, I've tried Febreeze and air fresheners but it won't go away. I don't drink (recovering alcoholic) and can't stand the smell in the car. I am too embarrassed to allow anyone else in there, my daughters foster parents and I are supposed to meet next week to talk face to face for the first time and I'm terrified of what might happen if they think I'm still drinking. I am low on cash from the holidays and could really use a cheap solution here. Thank you all in advance, Happy holidays.

Try Ozium Spray (Walgreens carries it). Ozium is used by hotels, cruise ships, etc. to clear strong odors out of rooms.......will remove the "party smell" from just about anything. Also, keep windows open as much as possible and place charcoal briquettes around the car to absorb odors. I would spray the Ozium in the car about twice a day. This worked for me when a package of raw chicken was in the car (parked in the sun) and was forgotten for a few days..............incredibly awful dead smell.

good luck!

Try baking soda - sprinkle on the carpet and upholstery and let set in the car for at least 2 hours (over night would be best) then go to a car wash and vacuum it all out that should do the trick.

The second option is to get one of those Rug Doctor machines at the grocer and use white vinegar instead of the soap solution to shampoo all the carpets and upholstery - the vinegar is a great deodorizer and the smell will dissipate in a matter of hours leaving you with a fresh clean car.

Good Luck!

Fresh ground coffee is the answer. Depending on where the spill is, you can either sprinkle it on the spill spot, or if you want to contain the coffee, you can put some in an open container.

Sounds like you need to do both to get that smell out.

After several days, you can vacuum up the coffee, and the smell should be gone.

This trick also works for worse smells too... like say, someone gets sick in your car... I learned it from the airlines. That is what they do after an airsick incident. If it can take that smell away, it can take away the smell of Jack.

Baking soda and cornstarch in equal parts. Sprinkle it over all the cloth in the interior and carpet. Rub it gently into the material and let it sit overnight. Vacuum the car real good. If it doesn't get all the smeel out, do it again until it does and it is cheap.

Take powdered Baking Soda and sprinkle it all over every surface possible and then let it sit for as long as possible - hours, overnight, etc.

Then vacuum it all up. It should absorb the smell.

I am really sorry, you could ask your cousin where he broke the bottle and spilled the achohol and put a lot of nail polish on it. Nail polish is strong and should do the work.

Put something else in it that smells just as bad and they will cancel each other out.
