Germs, bacteria, viruses are what makes you sick. Things like being too cold might make you more susceptible to getting something if it's prolonged and your immunity has been lowered by other things recently, but cold in itself does not cause illness. Although hypothermia can cause other health issues, so don't go outside for a long time without being properly clothed!

Both... Because just yesterday I went to Flagstaff and when I came back that night I felt like crap and this morning i had a runny nose and a little fever so.. cold air can get u sick like me. Also of course germs can get sick in everyway.So yea!

Germs. Cold air can give you a runny nose, but the reason people get more colds in the winter is because they stay indoors more often.
