duh! According to yahoo weather, the average low temperature for January, the coldest month in Chicago, is 18 F. degrees. So on average no, but there are usually a few days each winter that reach zero or below overnight. The record cold is -24 degrees on January 24, 1983. I can remember times when a week went by without the temperature going above zero, all this after global warming!

Chicago has the worlds worst winters. Yes it is often much colder than 0 degrees with much wind off the lake. Public transportation fails and like a fool I walked to work. It was so cold my lungs hurt when I drew in a breath. Not a nice place to winter.
