well you should tell him definitely even though he will guaranteed get his feelings hurt. i mean, he didnt ask to marry you if he didnt feel like that was what he wanted.
to answer your second question, i would be real hurt but its better to tell him than not to tell him. thats what he would most likely want.

Tell him how you feel. Talk it out. But let him save a little face. Tell him if he wants, you will consider it a "friendship" ring. Let him decide whether you can keep it under your "conditions" or if he wants it back. No reason you can't be friends and lovers but not engaged. But all you can do is offer. He has to decide what he wants to do after you tell him how you feel and how you would like the relationship to be.

umm....OK, first. IMO, he doesn't take marriage too seriously. He's not even there, but just randomly leaves you and engagement ring. A little odd?

Also, don't worry about him being mad at you. If you aren't ready to get married, you simply aren't ready. Don't put aside your true feelings and future happiness, so you don't upset someone else. Sometimes we have to be a little selfish.

If you say yes, you'll be in for deeper trouble in the long run.

Uh, hell yes your guy is going to be hurt and mad at you and I bet he will not even speak to you for a while. But I'm thinking if that does happen that he will not totally leave you. You need to tell him why you don't want to be engaged or married at this time. His pride is going to take a blow and that's not a good thing almost fatale.

Just be considerate and soft with your words when you tell him the truth: You love him, but you are not ready to make that kind of commitment yet and that has nothing to do with him, but rather you.

Good luck.

Tell him you don't feel ready for that big of a commitment. Tell him you still want to be together, but you don't want to get married. If he is a good boyfriend, then he will understand.

He'll be crushed.

Just because he gave you an engagement ring doesn't mean you have to get married tomorrow.

If you love him accept it.

if he really loved you, then he would understand and accept the ring back.

Chances are he will be hurt, feel rejected, and leave.
Tell him you are not there yet.
