I haven't heard from my friend in a while so I'm worried she might have died in a car crash. Do you know any websites or phone numbers I can call so I can find out if she died? (I don't know any of her family members, and don't want to call them.)

Worried she died in a car crash? Why? She could have just as easily died in labor with your child, fell down the stairs, fallen out of an airplane, or drank water until she burst.

You idiot!!! If your worried about her, call her number and say "hi".

Why a car crash? Why not a fatal alleyway shooting?

Seriously, why would you think of such a thing. Just call the family (even if you don't want too). Maybe your friend is ignoring you? Could that be a possibility?

Check the obituaries from the local newspaper in her area. Most major papers now have online editions where you can check obits etc.
It is somewhat odd that your first reaction to not hearing from a friend is they died in a car crash. Perhaps you were not that close or it was a one way friendship and the person just does not want to hear from you anymore.
