Yes, and there are 2 cases in the media right now because of that, one in New York and one I believe is in Texas. To hold someone against their will is always illegal, with the exception of your children and then you are in a legal grey area.

Oh, and if you are a Federal agent invoking the "Patriot Act" you can get away with false imprisonment with like that for a year. EDIT If a Federal Agent says the person is a "Domestic Terrorist" they can hold ANYONE incognito for a year before they even need to let them talk to a lawyer. Unless they let them "free" for even 1 hour then re-arrest them then the year starts all over.

The only way a spouse (Party A) might legally restrict the movements of their marriage partner (Party B) is if Party B were in some way seriously impaired (drugs, alcohol, mental or psychological problems) and Party A had been appointed, or otherwise had legal guardianship of Party B.
Absent the above situations, a spouse (Party A) who held their partner (Party B) anywhere against Party B's will, would be guilty of False Imprisonment, or if Party A forced Party B to move to another location, Party A could be charged with Kidnapping (a capital crime).

Yes, it is illegal to hold any person against their will even if they are married.

Bit of an exception with grounding one of your children.

If you are under age, your parents can in most respects keep you in the house. As long as you are fed and clothed and not beaten they can keep you from going out.

If you are an adult, no one can lock you in the house. Call for help whenever you can, get the police involved if necessary.

Yes. It's false imprisonment or kidnapping. It doesn't matter if they're married.
