It's easy to prepare a party with all of the ready to eat foods in the stores. If your party will have alcohol you'll just need to know what to buy for the guests you're having. If you want little sandwichs you could go to Subway and buy a bunch of their foot long $5 each sandwiches...cut them in little 1" whirls and arrange them on a tray. On weekends I think they even have a special...buy 2 and get the 3rd one free... Chips and dips are also easy and the deli sections of the food stores are literally stocked with anything you might want to serve.
If you want to make your own things you'll need some great recipes. Decide what you want to serve and then search online for some recipes. You'd be amazed how many different recipes there are for any dish you might want to serve! Sometimes I have a "theme" party .... ie: for Mardi Gras I'll serve 4 or 5 different versions of gumbo along with a huge bowl of mixed salad, another bowl of fresh fruit salad (with cocoanut and grated candied ginger), chips/dips, finger sandwiches, and wine.... fast and easy... and I have yet to repeat a gumbo recipe! Enjoy!
