My Samsung Blu-ray Disc Player won't read Blu-ray discs?

Hello, I have a Samsung Blu-ray Disc Player, BD-P1000 and although it plays regular DVDs just fine, when I insert a Blu-ray disc it takes a very long time to load and eventually tells me that 'The Disc Cannot be Read' or something like that.
Please help, thank you.

This is one of the early players so it may not be able to read the latests BD discs.

Go to the Samsung web site and download a firmware upgrade.
You will need a CD burner to burn the s/w and then you insert it in the player. There are detailed instructions on the web.
