sounds like rabies to me. your dog may have gotten in a fight with a rabid racoon while in the woods.

i would also like to say how horrible i think it is that people are being so rude about how you cared for your dog. i see nothing wrong with leaving a dog ouside in a pen, as long as they have toys, food, clean water, and shelter. im sorry for your loss and im sorry people are trying to make you feel bad when you are already dealing with the loss of a close family pet.

You found her in the woods? But she was an outside dog that you kept in a pen? Probably she got loose and was bothering someone and they got sick of it. This is why dogs should be kept under better care and control.
You should go and get a necropsy done by your vet, so you can find out if one of your neighbors hate you and your dogs. If it's poison, the police will want to know.

Well she's dead so it's to late for a vet. How old was she? When dogs get old and die they prefer to go off and be alone. She might have ate something that was poisonous. Also, well said Gallopin...

I am sorry for the loss of your dog. I think a vet would have to look at her & possibly do an autopsy to determine what happened.

Sounds like your dog had a horrific worm infestation. When was the last time she went to the vet for shots/checkup?

she probably had a seizure
or she had rabies (white substance around her mouth)
or she was poisoned by something (food, another animal, etc)

u should take her to have an autopsy and they can tell you what the real problem is

im so sorry for your loss, really am

PLEASE do not get another dog until you realize that they can not live in a pen!!

This is why you don't leave them outside, anything can happen. There is nothing wrong with giving a dog time outside, even extensive time, but to make one live outside is just mean.

I am sorry for your loss, but please be more considerate towards the next family pet.

What's the actual question? The white stuff could be absolutely anything.

A necropsy would be in order to try and find out what happened to your pet. That's your best bet to find and answer.
Good luck
