Never heard of charging a camera through the USB connection but USUALLY if you need a wall charger it is included.

We are very aware that your M883 uses a unique charging device, the USB outlet from a PC. If your PC is an older model, it may only have a USB 1.0 outlet which does not generate enough current to recharge your camera battery. You need a USB 2.0 hub which you can purchase separately and apart from your PC for around $20 and it works fine as a charger. Radio Shack has such a device.
Good luck!

I am having the same damn problem! and the kodak share disk that came with it does not tell me at all how to hook it up into my computer. We just got a new computer for Christmas and I just have no idea where to plug it in at or anything. I have been trying for days now to figure it out and my camera is dead now. The stupid booklet that came with it is no help either. It says that the USB device is to be used as a charger as well, but they don't explain how to plug it in to begin with. If you figure it out or have any luck at all..please write me back, I'd kindly appreciate it. It should come with a damn chager anyways! Thanks.

Like Bubba13 said USB port is for downloading (transferring) photos from camera to computer. If your camera uses AA batteries you'll have to buy rechargeables. It says on them 2650 or 2700 NiMH. Get battery charger at Radio Shack or Best Buy. Charge batteries before inserting them in camera. That's if it takes AA.

I don't have your particular camera, but my canon can plug into a usb cable into the computer and turn on and I can actually take pictures with it from my computer with software, but it doesn't charge it....I believe you still need to get a charger, the camera should have came with a charger, unless it only requires AA, then you'll have to get rechargeable batteries.

The usb port is for downloading only. you will need a seperate camera charger for it, especially when doing anything on the computer because it zaps the batteries pretty quick. Just look for a universial charger for your type of camera.

if you have everything connected and the green light is on, not blinking though, it should be charging.
it takes while to charge, so be patient...
when charging the comp wont detect it, thats only if you turn it on and thats when you want to transfer the pics.
i would recommend buying a wall charger, i myself am looking into that because of the fact i need to leave my comp on for so long.
:]

i think you still have to get a charger. i have an easyshare camera and i have a dock that goes with it with a one touch transfer as well as charger. i didn't get the dock with a printer because i think pictures printed at home are poor quality.

I usually charge my camera from a power-point .... no no, not the software Powerpoint, but the power-point socket in your wall.
Cameras do come with an instruction booklet, unlike men ;)
