If their answer was rude or even if the person disagreed with it that would be okay, but to thumbs down simply because they are not Muslim or you don't like them is childish and disrespectful.

Shakira rox: I'm not disrespectful to Islam. I've seen this many times for people who are non-Muslims and are not rude or disrespectful. There are people here who know who the non-Muslims are.

Red tulip: I didnt say Muslims were disrespectful, I said they were disrespectful to do it simply because the person is not a Muslim. I agree that a Christian is also disrespectful to do it simply because they know the person is not Christian. It goes both ways.

OKAY PLEASE UNDERSTAND THIS AND READ THE QUESTION AGAIN IF NECESSARY: I NEVER SAID MUSLIMS WERE DISRESPECTFUL I SAID IT WAS DISRESPECTFUL TO THUMBS DOWN A PERSON JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT A MUSLIM. THAT MEANS THAT PARTICULAR PERSON IS DISRESPECTFUL NOT ALL MUSLIMS

I agree. I don't agree with thumbs down unless the answer was extremely rude and misleading. Personally this is the only time I give thumbs down and rarely do. Mostly for me its thumbs up or just no rating. I agree with you. You get the impression sometimes that this place [Y!A] is full of kids or folk that have not got much tolerance. You might expect better on the Ramadan section. Some folk are plain self-righteous. Islam is about humility, tolerance and helpfulness.
Don't worry butterfly: people are people at the end of the day.
Islam is a way to potentially take us all to the rank of angels or higher but this headstrong NaFS can have some fooled into getting above themselves. Plus there are the trolls, etc who are here to make us all look like a bunch of do-gooders or intolerants.
Don't worry.Stay happy.
Salaam.

So you think Muslims are disrespectful to Non-Muslims? NO! I am a Muslim and I have a lot of Non-Muslim friends. It depends on the person. It doesn't have to do with if they are Muslim or not. That was kind of rude to say Muslims do that. To me, now I feel I am being discriminated. Some people just don't like Non-Muslims, same with any race Jewish people don't like Muslims, and some Christians don't like Muslims. In Islam no where does it say that Christians, or any other race are bad and don't talk to them. As Muslims, we are to respect any other religion and not talk bad about it. Same thing with people, we aren't suppose to talk bad about people too.
Sorry to be harsh but, you need to know not everyone is like that some Muslims are,b ut Christians, and Cathlics.

Here's my criteria for giving a thumbs down:
Rude, racist, prejudiced, anti-Islam, useless, false, hateful
By useless, I mean answers like "I don't know, I'm not a Muslim", which I have seen. I don't give people a thumbs down just because they're not Muslim, but I'm sure a lot of people do. People give me thumbs down sometimes just because they disagree with me, which I find annoying and I never do.
Just don't take it to heart. It's definitely not as bad here as it is in the politics section, where you'll be voted down for being a Democrat/Republican/Black/Jew/Muslim/
Christian/Atheist/Pro-Abortion/Anti-Abortion or anything else if you happen to answer a question filled with people who disagree with you.

how do you know this is why the thumbs down is given? I answer Muslim questions and have not gotten thumbs down and i am not Muslim. i don't know. maybe i just don't see things the way you do.
i hope it gets better for you.
i read other answers all the time and give thumbs up or down due to the answer given, maybe i don't think it is a good answer or maybe i think it is so i give my opinion. that is what this place is all about right? i don't look at what their religious preference is or where the person is from before i give thumbs up or down. it is purely my opinion of their answer

well i am Muslim and i get thumbs down in all sections here in the religion section , even in the food section. i don't think it has to do with religion every one gets thumbs down, you wont find that all people agree with an answer.
and if you want to call Muslims disrespectful for thumbs down then Christians are disrespectful to , i get them a lot in the R&S section(hmmm does that man they are disrespectful)

they do that?...I don't
I only would do that if they are rude and disresepctful toward Islam.
So I don't do that, and i'm preety sure most don't...but if they do its when the non-muslim says something mean and disgusting.
Like what if a muslim called christanitians terroists...would you like that...I'm preety sure you would'n...and its untrue.....non-muslims might give thumbs down if people are muslims..you never know
We all just have to deal with it

Many questions as posted by the one asking the same are explicitly directed to "Muslims only" and yet, many non-Muslims with impairments to their ability to read and comprehend the same insist on answering.
They like to start their answers by saying something like, "I'm not a Muslim..."
If the questioned asked for answers from Muslims only and you are not a Muslim the please don't answer the same.
This really isn't that hard to figure out.
The same would or should apply in other sections when the answer ask for "Christians only" to answer.

I didn't know they did that in this category but in the current events category, it's the opposite. Whenever I defend my religion, I get so many thumbs down it's unbelievable...if it's not racism, God knows what it is, If they do do it for the reason you think then that it ridiculous
