Calling all Latin scholars?

Question

What would be the most appropriate translation to Latin for the phrase “Word to mother” with the context of ‘word’ referring to the written word, ‘to’ referring to a gift and ‘mother’ as in the maternal mater context.

From my very limited knowledge of school boy Latin I think it would be “VOX AD MATER” but clarification and explanations would be good as my pocket book of Latin has the following translations.

vox, voice, verbum, vox vocis, fides, famen, dictum

to
ut, tenus, procul, cupio, gratia, ad

mother
matris, mater matris, genetrix

Verbum sounds right.
"Dictum ad mater" would work as well

Scriptum matri

As mentioned, 'vox' would only be the spoken word. 'dictum' is also only spoken (comes from the verb dico,dicere - to say or declare). 'Verbum' is a single word - either spspoken or written. 'Scriptum' is something written - a writing, written words.

"Matri' is the dative case of mother. You don't need a preposition to express the idea of a gift to someone - the 'to' is inherent in translation of the dative.

that would work, but i thought that vox meant voice.
i would go with "verbum ad mater".
but im not completely sure. i took latin last year in 8th grade.

Vox is the oral expression of voice.

Verbum per matrem would cover a written word. I would choose "per", meaning for, rather than "ad", meaning towards, because you are speaking of the intention behind it.
