It just amazes me how some people think....of all days...Christmas, and we still have to argue & be angry. Christmas is a celebration of the Birth of Christ. Yes, it is a time of celebration & spending time with your family & friends. It only becomes commercialized if you choose to let it. Christmas is a magical time of the year. The Spirit of Christmas should be in our hearts all year round. Everyday should be a day where each of us can forgive one another.
I live in a rural area & several families get together every Holiday. None of us are rich, most of our gifts are homemade & the food is great. It's not the gift that matters, it's the thought. People have ruined Christmas. It is still in your heart somewhere, let it grow. Merry Christmas, pray for our Soldiers and hopefully we will have peace again. I still believe in Santa Claus too. Absolutely nothing!...Truthfully speaking, it was originally meant to be a "special day" for pagans only, honoring a false deity. The word "Christmas" is a misnomer. This winter solstice festival was "highjacked" by the early Roman empire to draw more people into their "church" to attain more power. It is not Biblical to say the least..... Saturnalia and the kalends [new moon] were the celebrations most familiar to early Christians, December 17-24 and January 1-3, but the tradition of celebrating December 25 as Christ's birthday came to the Romans from Persia. Mithra, the Persian god of light and sacred contracts, was born out of a rock on December 25. Rome was famous for its flirtations with strange gods and cults, and in the third century [274] the unchristian emperor Aurelian established the festival of Dies Invicti Solis, the Day of the Invincible Sun, on December 25.
"Mithra was an embodiment of the sun, so this period of its rebirth was a major day in Mithraism, which had become Rome's latest official religion with the patronage of Aurelian. It is believed that the emperor Constantine adhered to Mithraism up to the time of his conversion to Christianity. He was probably instrumental in seeing that the major feast of his old religion was carried over to his new faith" (The Christmas Almanac, 1979, p. 17).
The biblical accounts point to the fall of the year as the most likely time of Jesus' birth, based on the conception and birth of John the Baptist.
Did Jesus Christ tell us to celebrate His birth? No. However, He left explicit instructions regarding how His followers are to commemorate His death (1 Corinthians 11:23-26).

Merry Christmas ( a bit belated) to you! Yes, I do believe in God, though I am not exactly as religious as I would like to be. And Christmas to me means a time to be with family and friends and share a moment of joy and happiness that we don't have a lot of time to do during the rest of the year.

Merry Christmas to you Scooter, I'm not Christian, I celebrate the Winter Solstice / Yule season. Most of my family is Christian, so as part of my celebration I celebrate Christmas as a time to be together with them, and celebrate the season as a whole as a Season of Light, when people from many schools of thought seek warmth, light and companionship at a dark and cold time of year... This time of year offers us all more time to be together to enjoy each other, the stored harvest, plans for the future, and also for spiritual reflection... May you enjoy a blessed and meaningful holiday today... Best wishes to all for a happy and healthy winter season ....

It means spending time with my family, and it means a time of year when everybody is nicer to each other than usual. If only people could be this nice to each other all year round!
I am a Deist, and I don't need religion to value the idea of people being nice to each other - or to put my value into practice. Happy whatever you celebrate, everybody!

This Christmas is a special Christmas for me. I just started to go back to school at the community college level. But I do believe that Jesus is the Christ or Messiah, the Son of God. This is the day that celebrates the brith of the Lord Jesus Christ. The gift God gave to world to save it from second death for those who believe in the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ.

Christmas is a day for everyone to celebrate in harmony, the lord gave his son for who was born on Christmas Day. We are to share our gifts, relax from work and school, and think how one day out of the year to get along with each other. Merry Christmas to everyone, and Happy New Year.

Christmas is a special time for my family to be together, enjoying each others company, showing their love and respect for each other, and being appreciative of the example and Atonement of Jesus Christ.
It's all about feelings -- feelings of love and thankfulness.
