I live in Tucson, Az. and have hands that dry out and crack, some of the cracks turnned into larger sores. They keep getting bumped and not healing, due to being rubbed open again. Dermotologist Rx'ed a cream; however still have problem - Leave open to air, or bandaid? Anyone?
Thx, BK

This may sound strange... I would recommend that you apply the prescribed cream and perhaps a moisturizing cream on top of that. If you can tolerate it, place your hands in plastic bags (i.e.: Zip Lock bags) and wear overnight while you sleep. The plastic bags will prevent the creams from rubbing off and also trap humidity (which your skin desperately needs). Try this for a couple of days and you should see a remarkable difference.

I have the same problem, finger print lines split. (Go figgure in SC.) owcha, "sticks out like a sore thumb" (no clue who originated that phrase.)

Quick fix: super glue. Really, just a drop, keeps you from busting it open again. Use a nail file after a couple of days to knock off the "callus" (dead) skin that snaggs on EverYthing.

Better fix: Honey at night before bed. Aids in cellular regeneration (it's food for cell reproduction) and has natural antibiotic characteristics (bees built that in). Bandaid when using honey.

Preventative: Lanolin. If you can find it. Or Mayonaise, yes, really. Mayo your hands and wear gloves (socks) at night. I feel for ya. owie

There is a crack treatment available - it brushes on like Nu Skin or nail polish to help support the tissue while its healing.

You need to pursue some preventative measures as well - you should probably apply some lotion to your hands after every time you wash them. Might want to carry some with you.

Look for something with Aloe and Cocoa Butter.
Gold Bond makes a good "healing" lotion too.

a gun to the head always works for me; don't forget to pull the trigger.
