Dude, keep it simple, when the folks at home tell your NO, in this case they know what they are talking about. I don't even know if your graphics card is supported and with 1/2 Gig RAM it will take you so long to come up (if you can), you could go out for a pizza and come back.

You barely meet the minimum requirements, if you install vista it will probably be slow. To have a smooth ride you should have at least one gig of ram and 128 of vram, 2.26ghz proc. is decent but not great. I really wouldn't recommend as it is because it's going to drive you mad, if it's a desktop try to upgrade some of its hardware. If its a laptop i would really recommend not to install vista, and wait until you have a new computer instead why don't you try linux. You can download a livecd which means you can boot from the cd and use linux without having to install anything, if you like it install it. Some of the more popular distros are ubuntu, sabayon, opensuse, pclinux os and mintlinux.

DO NOT DO IT!!!!!!
If for some weird and wonderful reason you NEED to go too Vista, buy a ready made one with a GOOD processor and at least 2GB RAM. A low end Vista PC is a waste of money.
I know just spent 2 hours playing with one, just trying do load basic programs. didn't succeed.

i'm hoping you have a license for that replica of XP! heavily the replica may be backdoored or deliver your info to a hacker/thief in simple terms insert the replica of xp and set up over vista. i could partition the HDD to ascertain that it works because of the fact if it does not you're screwed as quickly as you have deleted vista. attempt it in virtualbox that's unfastened application that facilitates you to place in an working device interior yet another one. you may desire to attempt downloading Ubuntu (no longer by applying way of utorrent - attempt an first rate website) and applying it as a replace. it quite is not reliable for video games yet is supported a minimum of (your replica of xp isn't registered so which you will no longer get provider packs or updates!) set up wubi to be sure if Ubuntu if reliable sufficient for you. it quite is going to likely be swifter on your device and could do each thing different than window's video games.

dont do it...your pc is baseline not gonna run vista
if you insist....put the DVD into your DVD drive and boot up from the Vista DVD, and follow the prompts to remove the current partiton, then create a new partition, and install Vista. You will, of course, lose all pics, movies, music, documents, installed programs, etc that you currently have.

I would listern to the people here saying dont do the install.
your computer is not up to the job, you need at least 1Gig of ram, 2Gig is better and a CPU of at least 2.5 GHz more would be better, the sales are on at the moment so you would be a lot better of to buy a new computer, but dont buy one with less then 1Gig of ram for they are a wast of time and money.

I'm afraid to say it, but you computer will, in all likelihood, not run Microsoft Vista.
Download and run the Vista Upgrade Advisor programme from Microsoft (on the following url) to get confirmation of this.
The programme will tell you what components fail compatibility, thereby giving you advice on what you need to do to upgrade your computer.
