which do you prefer?

i see that platinum is alot more expensive so its better material for a less lookin ring or a amazing white gold ring with worse quality?

i have a 1 carat round/brilliant cut stone... and it looks FABULOUS! It's set in white gold.. and i love, love, love my ring. :) good luck

Few people notice the metal. They notice the stone. And if you get platinum, you've spent most of your money on the setting and will have to get a much worse quality stone.

Since you have such a small budget, I'd go with the white gold and spend your budget where it really matters--on the stone.

Yellow gold first choice, platinum second. However, you may be pricing yourself out of things, here...
