if you lived in your moms house, you HAVE to be listed as a driver under her insurance, even if you were a secondary driver. If you did not report that you were a driver in her household to her insurance (prior to the accident), then insurance can choose to not cover the entire claim and you could be out of pocket paying for your expenses and that of the drivers car since you were at fault for all damages (running a red light). If you live in another household, like your dads for example, or were a friend driving your moms car, then it would be covered. But not paying a higher premium for having a younger driver in the household and not reporting them means insurance doesnt have to pay when you get into an accident. sorry.

Depends on what you mom had written in her policy. Your going to get a ticket and be held 100% at fault. Your mom could be sued for the other guys damages.
Some states have no fault so his insurance would have to pay his bills. I think either way you mom is not going to have a car.

RE :Got into car accident, my fault not my insurance?
the car and insurance was in my moms name, i was not listed as a driver, ran red light, car smashed me in side, his car somehow flipped over, will insurance pay for both cars,it was on full coverage
Update: the car is with progressive southeastern insurance if that has anything to do with it

ugh, most of these answers are horrible.
Let me give you a straight answer from an insurance adjuster.... well, as straight as i can give you.
Since you live in your mothers household- you should have been listed on the policy.
Since you were not- they CAN deny your claim.
Most major companies wont.. they will just add you to the policy and make sure she pays for you from now on.
However, i work for a smaller company now and we would DEFINATELY deny your claim.
It really just depends on how your contract is written. So... the answer is.. yes.. your claim may be denied and your poor mother may owe all damages to the other party (car, injuries, etc) plus to your car. They have every right to do this- ishe knowingly knew you lived in the household and go cheaper rates by not paying for you to be on the policy. However, if you have a major carrier there is a possibility they will go ahead and cover it.

You may or may not be covered. Common practice is for the insurance company to automatically renew the policy on the anniversary date. Some companies will give you a grace period of a few days at least (mine is 14 days) if the premium isn't paid on time. Others will refuse to renew the policy if they don't have payment by the renewal date. You'll need to check with your insurance agent.

I work for a large insurance company and the answer to your question is; as long as you were a permissive user, meaning as long as your mom gave you permission to drive her car, you will be covered. If you are specifically excluded on the policy or if you stole the car, then you would not be covered. I hope this helps.

If it was not full coverage then your mom's car will not be covered for sure. The other car may or may not be covered as you were not listed as a driver it depends on the insurance and the coverage your mom has.

You were not listed as an insured driver. This is probably cause a great deal of trouble for your mother. The insurance company might not be liable for ANY payments.

Why did you run a red light? Don't that mean stop for a bloody good reason!
Unless you got your own insurance you were driving uninsured which means you shouldn't of even been on the road with it. No they have no responsibilty to pay.
If you are not listed as a driver on her policy or you have no policy of your own then why do they have to pay out?
