i got a ps3 for Christmas, it is the second one my family has purchased, the first one we have had no issues with. this morning when i took it out of the box ,with my dad, and pugged it in the yellow light comes on and it beeps until we press the power button again. i have read that the yellow light comes on when it has overheated, but how could it have overheated if its never been on.... (thats not my question) so what i wanted to know is there anything we can do without sending it back to sony??

PS3 has to have a 10cm gap around it to "breathe".

You may have a power issue in the outlet it is plugged into ...Try plugging it directly into a wall outlet that is not being used by anything else ,,,also check the power connection to the back of the ps3.... Yellow in our manual doesn't say anything about heat issues...We have the 60gig US version. It sounds like there is a faulty connection issue..Try using the cords from your other ps3 and see if that makes a differnece.

You could call 1-800-345-7669 for sony ps3 support.
