How can anyone hate shrimp? And if eating shrimp is a sin, why did God even bother to create them?

Why did Jesus free us from shellfish, but not from other incidental sins, like smoking marijuana?

How can anyone NOT hate shrimp, is the real question. I hate all seafood. The smell alone is enough to make me want to throw up, and then the taste doesn't help matters either.

The prohibition from eating things like shrimp was under the old Law of Moses (or Mosaic Law) which was no longer binding once the Christian congregation became established.

There's a big difference in eating harmless shellfish and taking in body and mind-destroying substances like marijuana. Smoking marijuana (like smoking anything else) is not an "incidental sin", it's a knowing sin because you know you're putting harmful things into your body by doing it.

Man, these Christians just pick and choose what they want to take out of the Bible, don't they?

Notice how they fixate on the passages about hate and punishment? Isn't the shellfish prohibition on the same page about homosexuals being an abomination?

I love watching the "immutable and true word of God" erode into mere metaphor.

There is not a single worthwhile message unique to Christianity. The only thing Christians can throw out to "prove" that the Bible isn't all about hate is the Golden Rule. The Golden Rule is hardly an original concept unique to Christianity. Why don't we just throw out all the mythology and magic and just keep the Golden Rule? It stands on its own pretty nicely.

As for your question, it is irrelevant if there is shrimp in Heaven or not. First, Heaven doesn't exist. Second, even if it did, it would be empty. If the Bible IS true, we are all going to Hell. No exceptions. Nada.

Would you want to avoid heaven if you couldn't eat shellfish?
The biblical prohibition against consuming shellfish was directed toward the Jews, so if you're not a Jew living in Israel before Christ was born, I wouldn't worry about it.

1) Shellfish is no longer unclean (a sin) as the old ritualistic commands are no longer in effect because Christ has freed us from those bonds.

2) I haven't been there yet, but I don't think you eat in Heaven. «shrug»

I hope not. I hate shellfish. Anything that had to be taken out of its shell to cook is not on my menu.
