You should let him. It's good to get kids started at that low of an age. Therefore, they can learn all the safety of gun handling and be a good shot when they grow older.

I got a Remington VLS in 22-250. I put Leupold MK IV base and rings and a VXIII 6.5 X 20 X40 on top. It is awesome. I put about 65 rounds through it today. I broke in the barrel correctly and it even printed sub MOA @ 100 yards with me cleaning between every shot for the first 15. The first 3 real groups of 3 rounds were all less than .75" It beats the hell out of my Savage mod 12 in .223, but i'm partial to remingtons. I have 3 Police models: 7mag, 308, and LTR in 308. I have a model 7 in .243 and ADL's in .270, 30-06, &,223. I also have a 541 and a 581 in 22LR along with about 10 other rimfires. A marlin 336 in 30-30, a Savage mod 12 in .223, a Savage mod 110 in 22-250, Ruger mini-14, 3 remington 870's (two in 12 ga- 28" & 18" and one in 20 ga) Handguns are either wheel guns for hunting (Ruger blackhawk in 45 LC & 41 mag, S&W 686+ in .357) or Glocks (21 in 45acp, 22 and 23 in 40. s&w) I think thats about it, but my son is 12 and is now hunting and my daughters are 10,10,9. It wont take ling before I will need another safe just for their stuff. Merry Christmas and take a kid shooting, they are the future of our shooting sports.

No. I do not want my wife spending taht ype of money on me when we have two little girls. I get my own Christmas presents (guns/ammo) uisually in the spring or fall. I like to control what I get and look things over before cash gets spent. We also need a new dishwasher (priorities, priorities).
