yes, i think so too if they carry on a conversation in front of you. I don't think its rude though if they answer and say ," hey, I have company...let me call you back later."

Under most circumstances, I would find it very rude. It shows you don't value your visitors and/or their time. The only exceptions to this would be a medical emergency or being on call for your job(in the latter case, it would be wise to inform your visitors of this possibility, so they won't feel put out if you have to run). Whenever I am entertaining guests, I keep my cell phone off and let voice mail pick it up, so I can call back later.

Deepnds on what kind of call. You just can't go chatting with the caller when you have a visitor unless its a call you just can't avoid / a business call or something as important. Even it were ....one needs to keep it short n precsie. As far as social calls are concerned ....you can always ask the caller to cal back or can call him / her back later.

It can be rude if the call lasts longer than a few minutes. Otherwise, don't even answer if you know it is going to take longer.

It really is rude. Sometimes it can't be helped (Great-Aunt Elizabeth, whom you haven't spoken to for 3 years, called to tell that her cat just died.) In general, though, just say "Excuse me for a moment" and tell the caller that you have guests and you will return the call later. Then really return the call later.

It's only rude if you don't excuse yourself and if you neglect the guests.

I THINK IT IS RUDE, IF YOU ARE EXPECTING A CALL FROM A RELATIVE, OR SOMETHING, EXCUSE YOURSELF AND MAKE IT QUICK.... WHEN I VISIT WITH MOM AND DAD, THE PHONE STAYS IN MY HANDBAG, AND THE RINGER REMAINS OFF UNTIL I LEAVE!!!
