So I'm here with my family ready to celebrate the holiday.. and I'm feeling so blue and down. Part of it is b/c I'm in between jobs/trying to figure out things.. the other is I'm pine-ing for my guy friend back home. I feel like that guy who confesses to Keira Knightley in "Love Actually".. [but I'm not gonna do that].

Any words of comfort or cheer? Thanks.. oh and Merry Xmas/happy holidays to everyone.

Christmas is one of the most stressful, heartbreaking times of the year. It is set out, and displayed as a wonderful time, but so much pressure is put on everyone to buy gifts, run their time thin, try to be with loved ones.

Christmas is a good time to stop and think for a minute. Everyone has something to be thankful for... find what that is. Some have more than others... some have things from the past, some the present. Don't look at what you don't have and wish you did... look at what you do have, and be very thankful and proud of it.

If you are with your family, enjoy that time... don't wish you were with a guy friend somewhere else.

Time with family is the best gift. You can always get another job and another friend, you can't always get more time with family.

Merry Christmas... I hope you do enjoy it.

So sorry to hear you're down SDG, but that makes sense considering all the unknowns you have right now. And it probably doesn't help being away from the comfort of your own home and daily routine.

But you are a beautiful, intelligent woman, taking steps to better your lot, putting yourself in position for getting what you want out of life. Those are traits that show others (including him) your irrepressible spirit and strength. You may be in a lull over the holidays, but once you get back home, things will start falling into place and you'll be riding the current toward that bright horizon awaiting you.

Hang in there for now, and best wishes toward an incredible 2008!!

Words of comfort? At least you have family to be with. I have none. Find a job and get a new guy friend in 2008. Happy Holidays!

Well,I deal with it by not thinking about it. If you think about being blue, you will get even more depressed. I sometimes get blue after the holidays, which is normal. As long as you have family there with you, there is nothing to get blue about.
