It did and lets not get down on people who feed cheap crap. It is Christmas after all.
I've owned many picky eaters and one of them was a Rott who only liked Ol Roy. He died at 14 of old age and his only major health concern was arthritis.
The best food you can feed your dog is the one it will eat.I still have a picky eater and one with suspected food allergies.I feed Canidae now and both eat it without a problem but I've switched foods so many times in the past 5 yrs. I think I've tried almost every brand there is.And yes I've fed them cheap crap as well as premium food looking for food that one will eat and does'nt make the other scratch constantly.
And while I agree that feeding better quality food will in the long run cost me less by keeping our dogs healthier I'm starting to wonder if some of the people spouting off about dog foods and what they feed is'nt becoming a status thing. "I can afford better food than you.HA HA! "
So what!!!!!!!! The important thing is the dogs getting fed!

Apparently they stopped putting in the ingredients from China and found a new source of their poison ingredients. Still not a good food, and doesn't deserve to be allowed to be fed to animals. But I guess when people buy a dog to chain in the yard, or just don't care about their pets at all, they go for the cheapest of the cheap and feed Ol Roy. Not sure why anyone would even own a dog if all they can afford to feed is meat flavored cardboard.

Must be American. Never heard of it in the UK.
Regarding the lack of knowledge, it is true, but it took another person to explain to me about the labels and share their knowledge, before I realised the seriousness in relation to quality or the lack there off, in commercial foods.
Somehow, I've always had the insight to feed my pets natural foods, which is why holistic, homoeopathy and holistic attitudes are second nature to me. I was raised in an environment to never eat sweets and my first chocolate I ate when age 30, at least the one I enjoyed. I just did not like sweets.
It is important to show compassion and understanding when people have not had the good fortune to be given the correct information. Anyone who cares for their pet and discovers the economic system, will undoubtedly react and change the feed they provide their animals.
Those who are fortunate with the knowledge, have the great honour to educate the rest of the people, blinded by flashy adverts and other sales or marketing techniques and strategies. I'm afraid this is the ways of the world in which we live.

Ol'Roy is the worst food you could ever buy for your dog. A vet once told me that an experiment was done on O'lRoy dog bones. The bones were placed in water and boiled. The bones dissolved but there was one thing left behind - HAIR! Please spend the extra money for your dog. Ol'Roy products are dangerous!

Because it is cheap.
I work at a low cost spay/neuter clinic and I can tell you 100% , some people CANNOT afford better than that. Really. I have seen the worst of the worst in that department, and it is all too true.
Some of these are good enough homes in other respects, so we need to cut them some slack.
Not all of them have the means we do.
I agree that there are plenty of people that can afford better and just don't, but it is really unfair to judge all people the same way. There are some that buy food...even if it is cheap food....before they feed themselves. I have seen it and it is sad to be in that kind of position. Maybe they deserve a little understanding.....especially on a day like today.

Because it's what many peoeple can afford.
If you could barely eke by on your paycheck by feeding yourself/family, pay utilities, rent/mortgage, etc. you would feed your pet what you could afford.
Recalls are recalls no matter what brand of food you feed or don't feed your pet or even yourself. No matter what, you take care of the problem by taking it back and going from there.

only food produced before a certain date was recalled.. once the problems were fixed the foods were allowed back on the shelves
the problems with this food is that it was junk long before there were recalls, and remains junk to this day.. but most pet owners are ignorant about ingredients and quality (heck just look at how many beleive their vets and buy crap like Science Diet)

Some people don't know better and some people can't afford better. We can argue all day whether someone who can't afford better should own pets, but the fact is, that's the reason.
