I think a Christmas tree looks beautiful and always had one BUT... the bible says this!

Jeremiah10:3-4
3For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.

4They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.

also:

Colosians 2:8
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

Here's one website, if you can wade through the religious part of it, that talks about the fact that Jesus was most likely born in the summer, not in December. http://jesus-messiah.com/html/christmas.html The whole reason it got put there is that the Catholic Church was having trouble getting the early Christians to stop celebrating the pagan holidays so they co-opted them. Christmas occurs during the celebration of the winter solstice.

I saw a program on the early church on History Channel the other night. I was surprised that the Nativity story was not originally in any of the Gospels they picked as holy. It was written into them to combat the Gnostic belief that Christ never had an actual physical body. Don't know if there's a specific link, but you could check out HistoryChannel.com and look for a show called "Early Christians".

That would take just to long to list, the only thing about Christmas that is originally a Christian symbol is the candy cane, the white symbolizes the spirit, the red symbolizes the blood of Christ, and the shape is for the shepard's hook.

Everything else about Christmas, including the date, is pagan.

Blessed Be )O(

Many Pagans brought benign traditions with them when they converted to Christianity. I don't see how it takes away from Christmas one bit. I'm sure you could trace every aspect of Christmas back to something that is not Christian in nature. Of course, I see it go the other way as well, and non-Christian religions and even atheists adapt traditions from Christianity.

Your aim is to Condemn Christianity as a Pagan faith but you are so foolishly wrong and idiotically confused.
Remember the first Christian Converts were pagans who brought their customs into their new faith; that's quite normal; within every religion you can find ancient customs and Pagan traces. Even in our modern world, everything can be traced to the ancient pagan world..days of the week, Months of the year, even our names...everything can be traced to pagans.
Does this surprise you?

Look up Christmas in any encyclopedia or reference book. It will state that every part of it is of pagan origin.

As Ephesians 5:10-11 shows "to make sure what is acceptable to God, quit sharing in works belonging to darkness."

Believing in Santa Clause. The Christmas tree. Pretty much all we are putting to it.
Nativity scenes should be all the decorations one needs. And to give, it is best to give to those that are starving or lost their homes or in other countries where gifts don't get to, not even soap.
Be happy for all you and your friends do have.

everything. jesus is a classic sun god. but even if you were to accept jesus as distinct from paganism, everything else about christmas has pagan origins, with the exception that st. nicholas was melded with odin/ the holly king.
