According to scientific research North and South America have been occupied by humans (Native Americans) between 14,000 and 16,000 years.

There are some recent findings that humans may have occupied South America as long as 18,000 years ago. However these findings are yet to be accepted by the scientific community.

According to actual scientists archaeoligist and DNA Native Americans have been here since 50,000 years ago and they are their own race they have no relations with any other race but themselves. Alaskan and many Canadian natives are not Native their Asian so if ur testing their blood ur not testing actual natives like the Aztecs Mayans and Incas. The land bridge did exist people did go over they are not native and when they got here people were already here known as Natives like the Mayans. Politics are the ones who put the land bridge theory up to justify what they did to Natives but thats truly hurtful after what they went through. The mohawk calender goes back over 30,000 years. The "bering strait" theory was discarded over a decade ago.50,000 years ago it was imposible to cross the land bridge do to conditions

Only widespread DNA testing will provide the definitive answer. Until then, we have to be content with the archaeological evidence that most individual remains that have been found indicate they came from basically Asian ancestry.

However, the "Native" Americans are not, and never were, all from the same ancestry. Some probably came over a land bridge from what we now call Russia, and some were already here. No one knows for sure.

I just watched something on the discovery channel that dates the Indians to around 16,000 yrs ago. However, recent skeletal findings indicate humans unrelated to the Indians were here before the Indians, dating as far back as 30,000 yrs. I know I will catch some flack on this, but that is what the information they showed was leading to. They said their was a huge reed forest along the coastal waters and it may have provided a pathway for others prior. Allowing them access to the land south of the ice sheets during the ice age of that period

I hope they prove Indians were not the first ones here, then you all can eat crow with them

Recent finds have proven that Indians came from Asia accross the land bridge and are not native to the Americas. In fact almost all humans origianted in one place....Africa.

The first answer you got was probably as close as you're going to get. I'm Native American and as far as I know, my ancestors have been here since the ice age.
