At the moment my oldest dog is 11 1/2 yrs and is a Belgian Malinois (her name is Faith). The oldest dog I've had was a Pom who was 17 when he had to be put down because he had cancer. The oldest Belgian I've had was almost 16 when he passed on.

It is very common for medium sized breeds (Lab size) to live into their teenage years. My boss lost his Yellow Lab a couple years ago and she was 16.

I had a Samoyed that lived to be 16 until we had her put to sleep when the cancer got to be too much for her. (Family pet when I was young)

I now have 2 dogs, a Bulldog who is 3, and a Komondor who just recently turned 2.

i have had 5 dogs in the past 20 years. 3 were mixes, and my current 2 are purebred. honey lived to be 14 years, she had cancer at age 9, and we did surgery {nasal tumor}. she died from old age not cancer. smokey was 12, and he died from old age. champ, was 15, we had to put her to sleep. she developed cancer in her mouth. we did surgery, but it came back and spread all over her body, we did not want her suffering. my mastiff {daphne} and my rhodesian ridgeback{diamond}, are both 6, and healthy.
