My family has always opened presents on Christmas Eve. Since I'm visiting my parents and sister et.al. we did it last night. When I'm home with my husband and stepson, we open Christmas day. I like Christmas morning better but then again there are only 3 of us so it's quiet and relaxing. With my parents/sisters/nieces/nephews it's 10 people and it's nuts, also Mom cooks the entire meal herself so it's easier for her. Actually this is the first Christmas I've spent with the parents for 6 years. It's nice.

Yesterday afternoon.

My kids are older, and they both wanted THE impossible to find gift this year --Guitar Hero III for XBOX. Game and controller sold separately, of course (less glitchy).

I've been searching for months, even traveling to distant cities. No luck. Guess what I found 3 days ago?

I'm such a kid at heart, and I just couldn't contain my excitement any longer. I gave them their gifts early.

Unbeknownst to me, my oldest son, who lives 70 miles from me and was spending Christmas Eve alone because of his work schedule, also has this game.

So, thanks to the miracle of technology (and Bill Gates) my boys were able to play online all night long, laughing and carrying on like they were in the same room. It was after 5 am when I finally insisted the younger ones go to bed and let their brother get some sleep. It turned out to be a nice evening for us all. And all my kids got to see just how much I suck at video games.

Merry Christmas to you.

Last night at my sister's Christmas party. We all brought a covered dish, and presents for each other. I got a plaid shirt, cologne, and I have forgotten what else. I gave toy animals; like dancing and singing Santa Clauses, and dog, and pigs, and cows singing Christmas carols. We all had fun laughing, and telling jokes, and taking pictures of each other, and nudging old married couples to hug and kiss while getting their picture taken.

Hope all is well with you, my friend.

No...I am waiting for my family to come over for breakfast. We are a veritable melting pot of faiths. Those of us who don't celebrate Christmas (per se) wait until after we eat and then open gifts.

Last night so my parents didn't have to wake up early in the morning to screaming children.

this morning, if you want to call it opening gifts. My husband shopped on line at a place that is notorious for backorders. I won't see my gift for another month. Maybe I'll see it next spring. Maybe I won't see it at all.
