He went down to the basement and crouched in the corner. Brought him back upstairs and now he seems fine but super tired. I;ve been away working the past couple months, he;s been well fed and watered by friends The last time I was home was two weeks ago and he was glad to see me. Today when I got home he curled up in my lap when I went through the mail and slept for an hour or so. Is he just stressed out or mad? Or is it a heart attack or stroke or something? He's meowing normally now, but still in sort of slow motion and crouching near me. Wondering what to do. Its Christmas morning and I live in a small town miles away from a vet ....if the would even be open...

ANY vet in ANY town should have an after-hours service, even on Christmas day. Just call the clinic’s regular business number and it should put you through to the vet on call.

Any behaviour that is highly unusual is a good indication that an animal is ill/injured/in distress. He can't verbally converse and tell you he isn't feeling well, this is his way of signalling.

Call the vet NOW.

Take him in tomorrow, first thing, something is wrong. Drool strings could indicate a broken jaw, broken tooth, something toxic ingested, or something else. It's a danger sign. The slow moving and the yowling are bad signs too.

Try to get him to eat and drink if possible. But this sounds like a sick cat and I'd definately take him in tomorrow morning for sure without even calling for an appointment.

If he was yowling and drooling there is something seriously wrong. See a vet Asap.

I would definitely recommend a vet....if they aren't open you can at least try calling them and see what they say. Good luck!
